Moses Semakula, a city businessman has been dragged to the presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda over alleged land grabbing.
According to documents seen by this news site, Semakula is fighting with another businessman Hussein Wadada to whom he sold a plot with unfinished skyscraper in Makindye. The plot is located at Kifampa zone and has two unfinished skyscraper.

The documents indicate that the two men settled for Shs200m of which Wadada paid Shs100m and promised to pay the balance in December last year. The deal was executed on June 16 2023.
However, documents show Wadada failed to pay as per the initial agreed deadline and henceforth notified Semakula that he would pay the balance on February 15 this year.
According to a letter addressed to the deputy RCC-Makindye and dated February 1, Wadada through his lawyers Nsereko-Mukalazi &Co. Advocates, Semakula has since repossessed the sold property something they call land grabbing and trespass.
And yet according to the sale agreement, it was agreed that the buyer would take over vacant possession of the property and be at liberty to develop it the moment he deposited Shs100m.
“Therefore, on this contractual basis, the vendor Semakula Moses if he wants to repossess the said property even on the account of outstanding balance can only do so by initiating a court process and by obtaining a court order. This has not happened and yet Semakula has trespassed and poured building materials on the land and has commenced building on our client’s land” the letter to deputy RCC reads in part.
It goes on ‘this is unlawful and amounts to a land grab which clearly falls under your office’s mandate to intervene in such glaring abuse of rights of citizens who are less powerful’
The letter was copied to Babalanda, IGP, Buganda Land Board among others.
Efforts to reach Semakula for a comment were futile by press time. He however, on January 15 this year through his lawyers Kadet Auctioneers wrote to Wadada informing him that he had repossessed the property after he failed to pay. In that letter, Semakula says on December 14, he wrote to Wadada a reminder for payment but he gave it a blind eye and never replied, forcing him to repossess the property. He said in that January letter that he had terminated the sale agreement with Wadada and warned him against coming near it anymore.
