President Museveni has paid tribute to the fallen former Bugisu cultural leader Omukhuuka Wilson Wamimbi, saying his reign was so peaceful.
“The late Umukuka Emeritus Wilson Wamimbi was a great pillar in the Bamasaaba cultural institution that even while he served his people, he did not dent his nation or promote
negative repute within and outside this country” The president said in his condolence message delivered by Vice President Maj. Jessica Alupo who represented him at the burial of the late cultural leader at Busano-Mbale city.
Museveni said Wamimbi’s reign was peaceful and he worked hard with dignity and distinction towards improving the welfare of his people. “This set him apart as a credible person that highlighted the intention of government restoration of cultural institutions” the Head of State told mourners through workholic VP Alupo.
He said Umukuka Emeritus Wilson Wamimbi’s legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of Bugisu’s history, having served as Mbale District Chairman in the 1990s and later representing Uganda as Ambassador to Canada.
He said as government, it appreciates the role he played working with other cultural institutions in Uganda.
Museveni said the country hails the legacy he has left and pray that it is upheld to inspire generations to come.
“We appreciate his service over the years and pray that the Almighty God abundantly rewards him. He has died at a time when the nation needed his counsel” he said and on behalf of government and NRM, wished him eternal peace.
