The Omukama of Toro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV has started a drive that will see Tooro kingdom become the nucleus of first class socio-economic development in Uganda.
The grand plan is enshrined in what he termed as his Vision 2045 for Tooro kingdom.
The vision was launched over the weekend, during his 26th coronation anniversary celebrations at the Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal town, Kabarole district.

According to Oyo, “Tooro Kingdom’s Vision 2045 will guide the development agenda and transformation of Tooro Kingdom for the next 25 years with the overall goal of empowering people and communities of Tooro Kingdom for a better life and prosperity.” He added that Vision 2045 will also propel Tooro Kingdom to become a model for inclusive and sustainable development.

To actualize it, the king broke it down into seven focus areas, which arfe practically the key challenges that must be addressed and overcome to better the lives of the people of Tooro. The focus areas include:
Promoting, Preserving and Protecting the culture and heritage of Tooro, Skills Development for Youth (focus area 2), Investing in Agriculture for Food Security, Poverty Eradication, Employment and Wealth
Creation (Focus Area 3) and Promoting Tourism as a powerful vehicle for economic growth, job creation and improved livelihoods in Tooro Kingdom (Focus Area 4). Others are: Climate Change, Environment and Water Conservation; Health for All and Ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
