Muslims in Katakwi district have a reason to smile! This is after their Eid celebrations have been boosted with a mega donation of 100 cows which the Vice President Maj. Jessica Alupo handed over to them in a colorful event that took place at the Katakwi Town Council abattoir.

We swear, the donation left these men and women of Allah alongside their Christian friends in the district salivating and speaking in tongues as their Eid celebrations had been blessed with a serious manna!

Indeed, the event was unprecedented that; even Alupo who is also the district’s women representative said it was happening here for the first time.

“This is historic because it is happening for the first time in Katakwi for us to receive such a large number of animals to celebrate Eid Mubarak. It is indeed a blessing. Eid is a blessing to believers, and regardless of our faith, we share this feast of sacrifice with you” she said amid wild cheers from joyful communities.

The VP showered praises on a local NGO- Nile Humanitarian Development Agency which delivered these animals, for the great work its doing in the district and the whole country.

She noted that this agency not only supports the district in food but has also supported in the establishment of boreholes, constructed schools, among other human activities in the district.

Alupo assured Muslims that government values them and appreciates their contribution to development of the country through the various interventions like key education services, citing the Islamic University In Uganda as one of them.

Earlier, the retired but not tired Maj. Alupo, had resumed interactions with the communities on the critical implementation of the Parish Development Model, where she distributed hand hoes in Angorom village, Getom Sub County and Apuuton village in Aliakamer Parish. The idea behind this is to help locals boost food security and household income.
