Usuk Youth Vocational Skills Center Renovation Nears Completion As Rooting Is Final Stages!

Usuk Youth Vocational Skills center about to be completed

The ongoing renovation project of a Youth skills development center also known as Usuk Social Center in Usuk-Katakwi district is nearing completion.
The center baptized as Usuk Youth Vocational Skills Center is being championed by Vice President also Katakwi woman MP Maj. Jessica Alupo.


The center according to it’s architect Eng. Omeke, has a catering unit with a restaurant, a library, conference rooms accommodating 100 participants each and another one which accommodates 250 people in addition to having several guest rooms.


“All these are for the first phase of the project. Additional space for youth skilling and sports are planned in phase II. Her Excellency Alupo donated 625 iron sheets gauge 26 for the project as well as other cash support towards this project” he said.


Katakwi district borders Karamoja neighboring Napak district. It has several youths who are idle but with the setting up of this skills training center, locals say it will greatly reduce on unemployment rates in the district.


“We want to thank H.E Alupo for the assistance she has rendered to this project. Our children will be able to train in various skills and create jobs for themselves. It’s a project we look forward to have as a district. We request her to continue lobbying for our district so that it gets transformed after years of insecurity occasioned by our neighbors in Karamoja” says Acarit Jane a resident of Usuk town. We have learnt that the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) recently extended 500 iron sheets to the Vice President and she religiously used it to roof this magnificent project which is now nearing completion.

“Roofing is in final stages” says Marcel Okurut, a resident of Omodoi sub-county but does business in Usuk town.
