The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in conjunction with Ministry of Works and Transport- Maritime Department and Uganda Red Cross Society have held a search and rescue sensitisation workshop in Kyotera District.
The workshop was opened by the Resident District Commissioner Apollo Mugume who thanked the organisers for this activity.
He described it as the first of its kind in the district and proposed that in future, a cross-border sensitization workshop be organized since Kyotera is a border district.
Similar workshops were held in Ntungamo and Isingiro the same week to prepare key stakeholders.
UCAA manager in charge of Public Affairs, Vianney Mpungu Lugyya says search and rescue mission exercise is a national obligation and a service rendered to people in distress in case of an unfortunate air or water incident.
