Police in Wandegeya Division have arrested two young men who were allegedly found armed with dangerous weapons during a night patrol operation.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspects were arrested at around 12:23 a.m. on March 18 near Nyumbani Hotel by officers from Kikoni B Police Station.
The suspects, identified as Omirambe Nizara (18) and Ochom Daniel (23), both residents of Kawempe Division in Kampala, were part of a group of about six individuals who attempted to flee upon seeing the police.
“Two suspects were apprehended while the rest escaped,” Owoyesigyire said.
A search conducted on the suspects revealed that one of them was carrying a panga and a knife concealed on his body.
The duo is currently being held at Wandegeya Police Division as investigations continue. Police say a case file has been prepared and will be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for further legal guidance.
