Sabotage! Budaka Radio Irks Wanainchi Over Interruptions In Their Local Community Empowerment Talkshow! We Want Mujomba Foundation Talkshow Because It’s Full Of Transformative Messages!

By Emmanuel Otekat Kuluo

Locals in Budaka district have appealed to the managers of one of the local radio stations-Big fm to ensure that their favorite program which features every Thursday evening is not interrupted.

According to wanainchi mainly those in Katira subcounty, Mugiti and Kadimonkoli all located in Iki-Iki County, this program featuring officials from a local charity organization called Mujomba Foundation has been instrumental in changing their mindset towards wealth creation but these days it suffers interruptions.

“Every Thursday evening, it has always been our routine to tune in to this program. Many of our people have benefited from it because it’s filled with transformative messages” said Annet Nabwiire, a resident of Katira said.

Another listener Gonzaga Kibedi, a resident of Kadimonkoli, said that before this program started airing, most of the youths were idle but now, they are all engaged in constructive work.

“The most important thing the program has done is mindset change among our people. This is a major problem we’re facing. People don’t want to listen to advice and usually take things for granted. Some want to get rich quickly without any meaningful source of income. Look at the youths involved in betting” he noted, but however, said ever since Mujomba Foundation started this program on Big fm radio, many youths are now involved in farming and other jua Kari work.

According to other locals in Kameruka subcounty, Mujomba Foundation has sensitized locals through this program on key government programs including Parish Development Model, Emyooga, Youths Livelihood Program, GROW project among others in addition to other related wealth creation programs.

“However, of recent, we’re not getting the message as we used to because there are always interruptions in airing this program. They keep saying there was no electricity, or at times the signals. When it airs, at times the words don’t come out clearly and we miss out. The managers of our radio need to work on this matter and if there’s anyone trying to sabotage it because of this program, we shall not allow that” the locals said.

Mujomba Foundation is a charity organization involved in economic empowerment of women, youths in Budaka district with its head offices located in Kamonkoli Town council in Iki-Iki County. It has been pivotal in educating needy children, supporting women and youths, fighting for environmental conservation among others. It’s patron is hon. Mujomba Sam Gagi, who is an aspiring Member of Parliament for Iki-Iki County in Budaka district and a strong NRM cadre.

Efforts to pick a word from the managers were futile but listeners said they want this radio so much because of developmental programs mainly that of Mujomba Foundation.
