As nominations for Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates draw closer, the ruling party-NRM has harvested a group of vibrant opposition youths in Kamonkoli Town Council, courtesy of Mujomba Sam Gagi’s efforts.
The group led by Charles Mukalu, said that having listened to the guidance of Iki-Iki County MP aspirant Mujomba Sam Gagi, they decided to lay down their opposition tools and board the bus.
He said Mujomba through his transformative programs has assisted many people especially the youth in this Constituency.
“We therefore, saw no reason to keep living in denial. There was also no way we could play two cards with one leg standing in opposition and another in NRM to support Mujomba. That’s why we took this decision to officially join NRM” he said.
The group handed over a line of items including party cards, t-shirts and other mobilization tools. Mukalu said that they are now willing to hunt for votes for President Museveni and Mujomba so that come 2026, Iki-Iki County is well represented at national level.
“Mujomba has been working with the President for so long. We therefore, have no doubt if we send him to Parliament, the tube will not be blocked as it is the case now. We want steady flow of juice. This can only be guaranteed if we send someone who gets on well with the President” he said.
The group comprising mainly NUP coordinators in the Town council, however, urged Mujomba to ensure that youths are given priority on government intervention programs mainly PDM. They said currently, accessing these funds is still a big challenge to several youths because some have no National IDs and others are discriminated because of their political backgrounds.
Meanwhile, Mujomba welcomed the group to NRM and assured them that they will not regret their decision. He said NRM and President Museveni have got several programs aimed at uplifting lives of everyone.
“Don’t be deceived by self seekers. NRM is the only party with a tangible program for Ugandans. Museveni started by immunizing children to make them healthy and then decided to take them to school through UPE and USE. We also have the Students Loan Scheme for universities. Therefore, all these steps have resulted into mass graduation of youths. We’re now working on creating jobs for them, the reason PDM, YLP and Emyooga funds came to help them” he explained. He handed them with NRM t-shirts and other materials. Iki-Iki County comprises of Kamonkoli subcounty, Kameruka, Kamonkoli Town Council, Kadimonkoli Sub-County, Mugiti Sub-County, Iki-Iki Town Council and Iki-Iki Sub-County.
