M7 Tells Ugandans in Diaspora To Invest In Uganda

Dr. Nankabirwa addressing the symposium in Canada

President Museveni has urged Ugandans in Diaspora to invest in Uganda, saying the country is ripe for investment.
He also rallied them to use their numerous contacts abroad to attract and encourage more investments in their mother country.

“I urge you to think of your country first, your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children and relatives who live in Uganda” Museveni said in the statement read by minister for Energy and Mineral Development Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa.
The minister alongside other NRM and government officials are in Canada to attend the First NRM Canada chapter symposium.

The symposium is being held under the theme: ‘Consolidating NRM government achievements in the sectors of political, social and economic gains and the role played by Ugandans in Diaspora’
He noted that when there are more investments in Uganda, the relatives of Ugandans on Kyeeyo (Diaspora) will get jobs and incomes to build prosperous and stable families.

“Government will also earn more revenue to provide social services to the people of Uganda such as modern and well-equipped hospitals and schools among others. I want to inform you that Uganda is ripe for investment. All the conditions for favourable investment climate are in place including peace, security and stability” he said.
Museveni even boasted that the country now has physical infrastructure which enables business operations, adding that even the market is available internally, regionally and at continental levels.

The president lectured that his government has tackled the establishment of the necessary social and economic infrastructure across the country, citing prioritization of key areas of transport and energy to lower the costs of doing business in Uganda. “There are four major cost pushers in business which include high cost of electricity, transport, money and labour. If these four are high, then business cannot grow” the president stressed
