President Museveni has splashed a staggering Shs40m on Vice President Maj.Jessica Alupo’s brothers as they marked 25years serving God.
The two brothers Rev. Fr. Akepa Immas Lawrence and Rev. Fr. Imalingat Paul Benedict Francis were today celebrating a silver jubilee in clergy work.
The president also gave Shs60m to the Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese to go towards the construction of the cathedral.
This was at a function in Ongongoja Subcounty, Aketa village-Katakwi district presided over by the president.
The function attracted cream de la cream of Uganda including ministers, members of Parliament and above all, a secret group called Visionary Women. This group consists of former women legislators (9th parliament) and was formed years back with Alupo being one of its members.
The group came into play to bring women MPs who had lost elections in 2016 to give them hope and a common vice.
The group has so far produced leaders in the current cabinet including Alupo who’s now the vice president, Rosemary Nyakikongoro who was a commissioner in Judicial Service Commission, Rebecca Amuge Otengo who’s an Ambassador, Harriet Ntabazi (minister), Florence Mutyabule (Senior Presidential Advisor) among other high ranking officials.
Museveni was amused by a statement from Alupo’s clan leader who praised him for bringing education nearer to the people. The old man informed Gen. Museveni that in the past, education mainly that of Secondary School was only found in Mbale or Tororo but now, secondary schools are in every Subcounty.
Well, our Inspectors were there at the colorful fete and here is the pictorial. Enjoy!!
