Deal Sealed! NRM, SPLM Sign Pact To Train South Sudan Ruling Party Bosses At Kyankwanzi

NRM together with Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) have signed a cooperation agreement to facilitate ideological training of the South Sudanese ruling party leaders at National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.

The two parties resolved during today’s  high-level meeting that featured both leaders of the NRM Secretariat and a delegation from the SPLM.

The NRM side was led by the Secretary General Richard Todwong and the National Treasurer, Amb. Barbara Nekesa while South Sudanese Liberation Movement delegation was led by Bol Makueng Youl, the SPLM Secretary for External Relations. He was accompanied by Dr. John Oryem, the secretary for Training and research, Antipas Nyok Kucha, the deputy Principal for Political school and the party’s Director for Political Desk, Dennis Marial Mourwel.

Todwong reiterated that both parties agreed to enhance cohesion and capacity building of SPLM leaders through ideological training at the renowned political leadership school.

“The secretariat pledges to facilitate the training of our brothers and sisters as a contribution to the growth of multiparty democracy in the world’s youngest nation” Todwong said.

He also revealed that the two countries discussed possible ways to enhance socioeconomic empowerment of their citizens through cross border trade without barriers.

Meanwhile, Makueng Yuol applauded NRM for being supportive to the people of South Sudan during difficult times.

“Everytime we need you, you are always available for us. When we fought for self-determination, you continued to be on our side in defence, building the national economy and democracy,” Bol said.

He went on “We look forward to actualizing the training of our cadres to ensure the party is run by ideologically grounded people to move the country forward.

NRM National Treasurer Amb. Barbara Nekesa noted that NRM is also ready to learn new ideas on how the SPLM runs its political business to improve mobilization and service delivery to the people.

Nekesa called for dialogue between SPLM’s leadership and those opposed to the Sudanese government to cease fire and work for peace for the common interest of the citizens.

The NRM director for external Affairs Maj. Awich Pollar, affirmed the party’s commitment to working with revolutionary parties to develop their countries due to similar ideas and aspirations.

“It was right and fitting that such a revolutionary party pays to us a courtesy call to deliberate bilateral progress,” Maj Awich said.

Other NRM top officials  who graced  the meeting include Dr. Tanga Odoi, the party EC boss, Deputy National Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, director communication Emmanuel Dombo, Maj. Okwir Rabwoni in charge of Youth and Institutions and Counsel Enoch Barata in charge of Legal services.
