Azerbaijan Briefs Museveni On NAM Summit Preparations As Ugandan Leader Warms Up To Take Over Leadership Of The 120-Member States’ Bloc Soon!

President Museveni has held discussions with a delegation from Azerbaijan, the country currently heading the Non-Alligned Movement (NAM).

The meeting comes ahead of the forthcoming NAM heads of state summit due to take place from January 15-20th in Munyonyo-Uganda.

The Azerbaijan delegation was led by the country’s Special Envoy and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Yalchin Rafiyev. 

“In the meeting held at State House Entebbe, the delegation briefed the President about the preparations for the forthcoming Non- Aligned Movement (NAM) summit” says Faruk Kirunda, the deputy president’s press secretary.

The meeting was also attended by Uganda’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, Adonia Ayebare, among other officials.

MUSEVENI TO TAKE OVER 

Uganda will host the 19th NAM- Heads of State and Government summit, a forum of 120 member states from 15th to 20th January 2024.

Museveni is expected to take over from Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev to lead the second-biggest group of countries after the United Nations (UN).
