Drama in NRM Women league elections as Adrine Kobushingye declared a winner.

There was drama at the ongoing NRM Delegates conference as incumbent NRM Women’s League national chairperson Lydia Wanyoto withdrew from the race at the last minute.

At exactly 13:00 East Africa time, a visibly politically tormented Wanyoto stepped a side and asked all her voters to join candidate Faridah Kibowa’s line.

After seeing few voters had lined behind her back, the former EALA legislator Wanyoto chose to  step down for her fellow colleague Faridah Kibowa.

In the early hours of the election build up, voters had told Wanyoto to heed their demands and step down but she refused until the election time when a few of them stood behind her forcing her to quit.

“You have been there for so long. Ten years are enough for you. Let others also eat. What you have eaten is enough moreover you have done nothing for us. Leave us alone. Go and rear your chicken. Enough is enough” angry  women voters told her boldly.

Wanyoto decided to approach the party EC boss Tanga Odoi informing him about her stepping down for Faridah Kibowa who unfortunately, also terribly lost to a firebrand Adrine Kobusingye from Bushenyi.

A business woman at Nassar road in the heart of Kampala City, the lady from Bushenyi used all tactics from ‘Nasser road university’ to thump both Wanyoto and Kibowa.

Immediately after counting votes, the NRM EC boss Dr Tanga Odio declared Adrine Kobushingye winner after scoring the highest number of votes.

Kobushingye who is a local investor dealing in hotel business is based in Sseguku entebbe road got 1838 votes, Hajjat Faridah Kibowa got 670 votes, Sarah Ochenge Lanyero 19 votes and Rahema Nakalawa came last with 02 votes.

“By powers given to me by the NRM EC,i therefore declare Adrine Kobusigye a winner for the chairperson of NRM national Women league after obtaining the large number of votes”

Speaking after her declaration as a winner, Kobusingye promised to unite all Ugandan Women.

“I thank GOD for this massive win and I also thank Women of Uganda for standing with me from the begining up to  the end of this race. I will make sure all Women in Uganda as mothers of this nation join money economy as the president mentioned yesterday” she said.

Meanwhile  Jackline Mbabazi was also declared a winner of NRM elders league for Western region, James Kakooza won for central region, Joy Waako was declared winner for national league, Ofwono Opondo won for Eastern region and Peninah Kobusingye aka Maama Kisanja was declared a winner for national.

In another development, president Museveni who doubles as the NRM chairman directed the party EC to halt elections for the chairperson of  entrepreneurship for further investigations.
