Grain millers operating from Iganga town are wearing smiley faces after getting assurances from State House comptroller Jane Barekye that they are going to get government support.
This was during an impromptu meeting held with the millers in Iganga town where the traders requested for support to improve on their productivity.
In total, the millers told an excited Barekye that they need about six milling machines with each going for Shs30m.
“Our main challenge is productivity. We need milling machines. We need about six of them. Each costs Shs30m. Secondly, we lack capital” the millers told Barekye who was in company of State minister for investment Evelyn Anite, SPA Florence Mutyabule, Namutumba district woman MP Mariam Naigaga and Kisanja.
Addressing the millers, Barekye urged them to form and register a Sacco to make it easier for them to get support as opposed to working as individuals.
“I urge you to register a Sacco and bring it for us and we shall present it to the President to support it. Secondly, I urge you to vote wisely. Support our dear President Museveni” she said and also urged them to give him a warm welcome when he visits Iganga to address a rally.
Meanwhile, Anite thanked the people of Iganga for always supporting President Museveni and urged them to keep this fire burning.
The millers who kept chanting Museveni Oyeee, pledged to send President Museveni back to State House pakalast.
