Details of how two Kenyan human rights activists Bob Ngaji and Nicholas Oyoo came to be released by Security agencies yesterday have exclusively leaked to us.

According to details we got, the Chairperson Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) Adv. Mariam Fauzat Wangadya played a bigger role after she engaged individual Security agency bosses and urged them to release the activists.
For example on Wednesday, 5th November 2025, Wangadya took it upon herself and personally engaged individual heads of key security agencies, cautioning that the continued detention of the two human rights defenders would compel her to issue a formal release order unless they acted faster.
“She assured them that if they didnt act, she was going to demand for their release within 48 hours. Following her firm intervention, the two individuals were released and formally handed over to the Kenyan authorities” explained an inspector.
We’re told upon their release Wangadya commended the security agencies for listening to her voice of reason, adding that the continued detention of the two activists was bound to paint a negative picture about Uganda.
Wangadya called for continued cooperation between security agencies and the commission to ensure no breach of human rights especially at this critical time when the country is in the election period.
