The president of the Republic of made a visit to Entebbe to mUgandaonitor the progress of Emyooga funds and during his visit he lectured locals on wealth creation visa vis development within the area. Upon arrival in Entebbe, he first visited Entebbe Division ‘A’ Salon operators office Emyooga SACCO before proceeding to Kiwafu playgrounds where he addressed Entebbe locals .
While addressing locals on July 9,2025 at Kiwafu playground , president Yoweri Museveni informed locals that his government is guided by six things including peace, development, market among other things .
He explained the six things : ” peace means no war and crime, development like I came to Kitooro, there are new roads , electricity- all these are developments and are good , but if you have development without weath, how will enjoy development and that is why NRm since 1960s told people not to focus only tarmac roads because roads are for all people but every day you need to go back with something and this is the reason why every family must work for wealth, ” president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni emphasized wealth creation .
‘ Traditionally among the Banyankole , wealth people must develop meaning you grow up and put up wealth . If you don’t have wealth you are vaguebond . Anyone must get get a wife , educate children and build an actual house and that is part of development.
” Some decades ago, when I came to town, I found when people were not clear on wealth creation but were focusing on tarmac roads . So, when I bought land in Rwakitura in 1968, there was no tarmac road and electricity but for me I was looking for pasture for my cows because they don’t eat tarmac and electricity. So at that time I was not looking for a tarmac road or electricity but I needed pasture for my cows .During that time, there was no development in Rwakitura but there was wealth because development had not reached there.
‘ Afterwards , tarmac roads , electricity and piped water came but these came long after I become rich.Therefore, people who don’t see this issue of wealth creation are missing out something ansd that is why all these years since NRM government came to power we have been putting up a fund(entandiikwa) such as NAADS, Operation wealth creation, Emyooga and now PDM among other projects and this is intended to help you create wealth in your home.
” There is money for roads and schools, all these are develoments but remember development without wealth is defective .
President Museveni continued that : ” we need jobs and where do jobs come from . I have visited a saloon girl in Kitooro who benefited from emyooga scheme and has made weath through hairdressing . My wealth is in agriculture and cattle farming but for her she is rendering a service. So, a service is also wealth for example a pastor praying for you is a service, a boda boda ridding is a service among services. .
‘ The salon girl -Birungi told me she has five workers . She was a poor woman but she got Shs. 1 m for emyooga funds and now owns several other businesses. One business has produced other businesses, ” president Museveni praised Birungi.
” You can’t have jobs without wealth.There are few government jobs which is like a service but majority of the jobs are in private sector, so this very important for you to understand so that you know to move without wasting your time.
On the issue of education and health the president said : ” If you have wealth and income, you do go to a private health facility for treatment and you can also send your child to a private school and you don’t government money to do so. If you are in rural areas you can install solar panels for light , you can also harvest water from your roof without for government to provide pipe water to your village.
In his concluding remarks, president Museveni emphasized the issue of market saying that : ” You must bear in mind who will buy what you are going to produce . Iam here to wake you up but I will talk more about this issue when I come back next time.
‘ I was coming from Kasanjje but the road isn’t good but the Banyankole say if you commit suicide you don’t deserve to be mourned . In Entebbe you voted opposition leaders and now can’t benefit from them. They are just in parliament earning good salaries . For you to benefit from PDM and emyooga funds , you must vote NRM MPS who will closely monitor government funds than voting opposition who just there earning salary but don’t mind about government projects , ” President Museveni urged Entebbe locals to vote NRM candidates .’
The Vice president of Entebbe Municipal Development Forum ( MDF), Harriet Nantalima revealed that over 36 SACCOS in Entebbe Municipality have recieved emyooga funds since 2020.However, locals disputed her claim saying it’s only less than 10 SACCOs that have so far recieved emyooga funds.
” We need more money, we have no offices and those who have them have no computers for data management.
‘ I borrowed Shs 3m from our emyooga SACCO and injected it into my hardware business . Initially my hardware business was worth Shs.10 m but now it has grown up and it’s worth Shs.20m.
On the other hand, the Entebbe Municipality Mayor Fabrice Brad Rulinda , who welcomed president Yoweri Museveni upon arrival to Entebbe noted that the president’s visit is so crucial because it enables him understand how government funds being utilized on top of benefiting the intended beneficiaries, ” Mayor Fabrice Rulinda expressed pleasure on the president’s visit to Entebbe.’
