Three people have died on the spot while several others sustained injuries following a fatal road accident involving a passenger bus and a Toyota Noah along the Mbarara–Bushenyi Road in Rwentuuha Town Council, Bushenyi District.
The crash involved a Tausi bus that was travelling from Kampala to Bushenyi when it collided with the Noah vehicle that was reportedly heading in the opposite direction.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the collision was severe, leaving the smaller vehicle badly damaged and trapping some occupants inside the wreckage.
Residents and other motorists rushed to the scene and helped rescue survivors before police and medical teams arrived.
The injured victims were later transported to nearby health facilities for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary.
Police have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities have since urged motorists to observe traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving to prevent further road tragedies.
