Keep Up The Good Work! PM Robinah Nabbanja Hosts National Water Board, Hails It’s Excellent Work!

By John Okello Lapok

In a landmark meeting that promises to transform the water sector, and water supply services in Kakumiro in particular, the NWSC Board has this morning been hosted by the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda.

The discussion, which took place at her residence in Kakumiro, centered on key issues affecting water service delivery, with a focus on improving access to clean water for all Ugandans, and Kakumiro in particular.

Prime Minister Nabbanja lavished praise on NWSC, saying, “When I see NWSC, I see myself. Because NWSC is a life giver.” She intimated that before NWSC took over Kakumiro, water supply was intermittent and unreliable.

She urged the Board and NWSC Management to keep up the good work. In her remarks, she also highlighted the need for NWSC to review its tariff structure to ensure that water services are affordable for low-income earners.

The NWSC Team, led by the Board Chairman Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu, commended the Prime Minister for her visionary leadership and dedication towards services delivery in Uganda. He thanked her for being result oriented, something which NWSC prides itself in.

He further affirmed that the long awaited Kakumiro Water Supply Improvement Project, meant to increase water production in Kakumiro by five (05) million litres per day and expand the distribution network by over 50km had reached fruition, and would commence as soon as the funds are secured.

“The Project is indeed a game changer, and shall improve water services in the region, benefiting thousands of people who have long struggled with access to clean water.” he acknowledged.
