Are you a fan of Kwepena? Cycling or skating? How about face painting and all related childhood games? Do you miss such games or you lack a place to practice them? Here’s a great opportunity for you and your kids to rekindle your cherished childhood games!

The very industrious Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] Executive Director Hajati Sharifah Buzeki has designated September 27, 2025 as a day for Kampalans to forget all their stresses and come to enjoy their favorite games!
Aware that most people in Kampala are renting with no space to play, the ED has decided that certain city streets will be closed down to enable Kampalans and all peace-loving Ugandans to come and do their thing! Those who want to do cycling on any type of bikes are welcome, those who like kwepena will also do their thing and those who prefer skating.
Others who are in love with face painting, 360 spin booth are all catered for. On this special day, Hajati Buzeki assured Kampalans that city roads including Nile Avenue, Buganda Road, Square 1&2, The Square and Shimoni roads will be a no go zone for cars to allow people enjoy their day!
It is here that Kampalans will be able to have their kids playing, street painting, tree planting, Trampolines, Video games, Board painting, medical camp and lots more fun games!
Themed ‘A livable City, Enjoyable Streets’, Hajati Buzeki said that this is part of KCCA’s efforts to make Kampala enjoyable by everyone and also contribute to the wellbeing of those who live and or work in the city.
“Research indicates that Non-Communicable Diseases [NCDs] are rampant among people in Kampala. People are getting pressure, heart attacks, obesity and other illnesses simply because of lack of exercises. We tend to be busy all the time and leave less or no time for physical exercise. That’s partly the reason we’re coming up with initiatives where people can exercise freely and also reconnect with their past favorite games” she explained.
Buzeki added that the event is non-discriminatory in terms of age or gender. She said cyclists [not boda boda] are highly welcome on that day.
“People will be free to play any games they feel like without fearing motorists. The streets are purely free of any cars that day. It will be fun all the way. The grannies, the youth, the kids are all welcome. Let us turn up in big numbers to exercise” she said. The games will be on from 7:00-5:00pm. The first 100 kids will be given free cotton candy while water will also appear in plural form. This exercise precedes the main Kampala City Festival 2025 in Kololo.
Meanwhile, more big-name funders have oiled the Kampala City Festival, courtesy of Hajati Buzeki. The latest oilers are ChintUganda who unveiled their in-kind Gold Sponsorship for the festival. They join the likes of city tycoon Hamis Kiggundu who also splashed Shs200m to go towards the event’s organization.
