Celine Gouveia, the President of the France-East Africa Business Council, has reaffirmed French companies’ commitment to Uganda’s sustainable growth.
Gouveia revealed this in a recent meeting with President Museveni at State House-Entebbe where she had led a group of French investors under MEDEF International to discuss investment opportunities.
This visit to State House according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, was coordinated by the Ugandan Embassy in Paris in a bid to strengthen economic ties between France and Uganda.
Gouveia cited the presence of 40 French companies across various sectors, saying French investments in Uganda go beyond energy and oil, focusing on specialized skills and technology transfer for sustainable development.
The support of French public institutions in fostering long term projects was also highlighted in addition to MEDEF International’s role in promoting sustainable business practices in Uganda, aligning with France’s vision for economic resilience and job creation.
Meanwhile, President Museveni tasked the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development to oversee matters related to MEDEF’s interests in Uganda.
Museveni emphasized Uganda’s investment potential, highlighting the need for infrastructure development and a strong private sector.
He commended the government’s pro-business policies, noting the vital role of the private sector in the country’s economic growth.
The President also stressed the importance of affordable power generation and irrigation for industrial and agricultural development.
The delegation also held meetings with key government ministries and entities, including the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Ministry of Works and Transport, Uganda
Investment Authority, and Kampala Capital City Authority, to explore further collaboration opportunities.
