Defeated! Namutumba Woman MP Mariam Naigaga In Tears! Deputy RDC Simon Menya Terribly Floors Her On NRM District Boss Position!

By Nalujja Haifa

Namutumba District Woman MP Mariam Naigaga has registered a strategic political hiccup after her desires to lead the district as it’s NRM Chairperson miserably failed.

The flamboyant legislator had wanted to add onto her political CV the position of NRM boss in this district, only to be defeated by a ‘boy’ working as a Deputy RDC and identified as Menya Simon.

The legislator turned up for the election clad in a yellow gomesi and ready to walk home with the title.

However, as she planned this, little did she know that Menya had laid a serious ambush for her through good political networks he had secured.

To begin with, the vote turned into a show of political supremacy between her and State Minister Persis Namuganza who also represents Bukono county in parliament. And behind Namuganza, was Busoga’s Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga whose name was being chanted by many voters claiming that Mariam Naigaga belonged to a certain external Team that wants Kadaga out of NRM CEC!

Namuganza ensured that Menya’s mobilization delivered the necessary results to prove to Naigaga that her time was strategically up in Namutumba politics.

At the end of the day, Menya bagged 413 votes against Naigaga’s mere 118 votes.

“It was a bad experience for her because there was no way she could call off the election. The line for Menya continued to elongate as hers kept shrinking. She urged the registrar not to count but he proceeded and the election was successful” explained a senior party official.

Meanwhile, as Naigaga lost her bid, Minister Princess Persis Namuganza went home smiling having won Gusango Samuel on the position of Finance secretary in Namutumba district.  Namuganza got 512 votes while Gusango got only 210 votes. The voters in Namutumba district were seen jubilating over the results of the day with only two positions whose election was postponed.

The election of Menya as district boss of Namutumba brings him in the league of others who have won other districts in that capacity.

Iganga has Hajji Walubi Abubakari, Simon Menya Namutumba District, Moses Batwala Jinja District, Edwrin Lufafa Jinja City, Aggrey Bagiire Mayuge District, Solomon Silwanyi Bugiri District, Bazanya Matthew Kamuli District, Hashim Moses Magogo Buyende District, Raymond Mukisa Namayingo District, Nkuutu Shaban Bugweri District, Kisa Stephen Luuka District and former State Minister Gagawala Wambuzi Nelson-Kaliro District.
