The Permanent Secretary Ministry for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama has commended the Ministry’s engineers for the ongoing works for the construction of a National Cold Chain Storage Facility.

The battle-hardened officer, made the remarks during a site inspection exercise which took place last evening at Entebbe. He was accompanied by the technical team.

At the site, Kasura signaled a thumbs up gesture with the Ministry Engineers led by Eng. Boniface Okanya and the Commissioner for Animal Health, Dr. Anna Rose Ademun for their hard work and dedication to have the facility completed and delivered on time.

The Department of Agriculture Infrastructure, Mechanization and Water for Agricultural Production’s combined efforts have made a difference at the National Animal Diseases Diagnostic Epidemiology Center (NADDEC) in Entebbe where the facility is being constructed.

“I am incredibly grateful for the work so far done. I thank you for this effort and encourage you to deliver quality work and within the specified period” The Permanent Secretary said.

In January, this year, the Minister of State for Animal Industry, Bright Rwamirama and the Permanent Secretary launched the construction of the first ever MAAIF National Cold Chain Storage facility, specifically designed for animal drugs.

Once completed, the state-of-the-art facility will cost  tax payers Shs2.5billion and will have the capacity of storing up to 60 million doses of vaccines.
