August 12th, 2024, Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s leading soft drinks maker, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has donated Shs173m towards the third edition of the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon which is scheduled for Saturday August 24, 2024 in Kasese district.
The pleasant move, which will excite all participants and stakeholders in this noble event, was announced by Kirunda Magoola, the Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Director at CCBU.
Kirunda revealed that as part of their unwavering mandate to contribute to the betterment of society through furthering the spirit of humanity, Coca Cola decided to once again step forward as the official hydration partner for this exciting race.
“We are thrilled to once again be a part of this exciting event that showcases the beauty of the Rwenzori region,” said Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Director at CCBU.
He noted that CCBU’s pride in associating with this run stems from the fact that the Rwenzori marathon gives them the chance to foster people connections while also promoting awareness of Uganda’s immense tourism potential which is epitomised by, among other things, the Rwenzori Mountain.
He added that the marathon, known for its scenic route and cultural immersion, will see participants cover the 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km distances.
To enable runners have a smooth marathon, CCBU, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), will hydrate them throughout the marathon by providing all of them with Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water.. It will be the third consecutive year that the company is partnering with the marathon.
Amos Wekesa, Team Lead at the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon, applauded CCBU for its continued support. He noted that the company’s commitment to providing water was invaluable to the success of the event.
