Finally! Gen. Museveni Corners NRM MPs On Merger Of All Wasteful Agencies! UCDA, NITA-U Given 3 Years Lifeline!

Members of Parliament have no more reason to delay the merger of wasteful agencies after getting a proper dosage of explanation from President Yoweri Museveni.

The Head of State held a caucus (NRM)  meeting yesterday at State House-Entebbe where the issue of merger of government agencies otherwise refered to as Rationalisation of Government Agencies and Public Expenditure (RAPEX) Bills in Parliament was discussed and a decision was taken.

Museveni gave a keynote address and important guidance to the MPs centering on a report from the meeting of the Parliamentary Committees of Agriculture, National Economy and Finance held on September 3, 2024 at State House Entebbe.

Based on the above report, the NRM Caucus thus provided for a three (03) year transitional period for Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and National Information Technology Authority, Uganda (NITA-U) and resolved to handle all RAPEX bills expeditiously in parliament.

Rationalisation according to Museveni is essentially aimed at fulfilling the NRA/M Historical Mission for the Socio-economic Transformation of Uganda.

This development puts an end to a tag of war that has existed between legislators and the president/executive over the desire to merge the agencies. There were allegations of bribery to legislators in order to block the mergers but now, everything seems to be settled.
